Brian Dettmer book art

Brian Dettmer is a book surgeon. His book art is something out of this world. Dettmer de-constructs books by using knives and surgical tools.
At first I found it a bit harsh since i am a book fanatic, but the outcome is really an amazing book art. Reviling what laid dormant in the original item, Brian Dettmer’s book art gives life to a unique interpretation of this media as we know it.
After sealing the book’s edges, Dettmer carves first through the cover, and then each page in order, striping away and exposing the subject’s concealed inner nature.
